Structural integrity assessment is the technique used to understand the condition or distress level of a building/structure whether existing or during construction. It must highlight and investigate all the critical areas which demand immediate attention.
For new buildings/structures, it is recommended that the structural audit be conducted while construction is ongoing in order to detect early defects/omissions for corrective action to be taken in good time. For a 15 to 30 years old buildings, it is recommended that the structural audit should be conducted once every 5 years. For buildings beyond 30 years, the structural audit should be conducted once every 3 years.
